Well it's officially been a month since I moved out to Cagliari. For the most part I love it here but still really miss everything I left behind. The next few months wont be so bad though because I get to see my amazing boyfriend in February when he comes to visit ! :) I've been trying to keep busy on evenings and weekends to keep my mind busy so I dont get too homesick. Last saturday I went to Villasimius , a very popular beach town about an hour away . It made me fall in love with the island even more ! Here are a few pictures of the trip to Villasimius

Yesterday was my 21st birthday , I have only been here a couple weeks so I wasnt really expecting to do much. I've made a few friends since I got here so I thought maybe we would go out for a couple beer and relax since I worked the next day. There is an 'English speakers group' here in Cagliari where both English speakers and Italian speakers who would like to learn English meet up every wednesday. I decided to go there for an hour or so but was told by my host mother to be back by 8:30 because she 'needed me to look after the baby while she went to a meeting'. Being the great Au Pair that I am , I came home ten minutes before my curfew and ruined the surprise that was being prepared for me , a surprise pizza supper with a few of my friends and my host mother's friends. After supper I then went out for a couple drinks with friends . What I expected to be a not so great 21st birthday turned into one of my most memorable birthdays , not everyone can say they were in Italy for their birthday ! :)

A week in ..

Well , its been a week ( or almost ) since I left Canada. My body finally seems to be adjusting to the different climate , food , culture etc. I don't really have anything interesting to say but once I post pictures I think it says it all for me. I have made a new friend , her name is Angella and she is a fellow Au Pair here in Cagliari. I haven't done as much exploring as I wouldve liked to yet because it is still so warm ( on average feels like 40 ) but I live right downtown so I have seen some of the main sights . After the french paragraph there will be some pictures .

Voilà déjà une semaine ( ou presque ) depuis mon départ du Canada. Mon corps semble finalement s`habituer à son entourage ( climat , culture , bouffe etc..). Je n'ai rien vraiment d'intéressant a dire mais une fois que j'ajoutes les photos tous sera dit pour moi. Je me suis faite une nouvelle amie qui est elle aussi Au Pair ici à Cagliari. Je n'ai pas pu explorer autant que j'aurais voulue car la chaleur est encore trop grande ( une moyenne de 40 à tous les jours ) mais j'habites au centre ville et je suis proche de quelques unes des plus grandes attractions. First day in Cagliari . It was a very tiring one. After maybe 4 hours of sleep ( being sick all night ) , I got up and got ready for the beach. Note to self : DRINK MORE WATER. Getting up this morning , I was looking for my money belt which had in it about 100$ CAN and 80 Euros , my ID and my debit card . I COULDNT FIND IT.. i figured it was my exhaustion getting the best of me. I eventually found it well hidden at the bottom of my back pack. Other than that everything is pretty good. Getting over Jetlag sucks though. ( especially with a stomach flu ) . Feeling a little disconnected from my world back home but i`m guessing that will improve with time. Première journée a Cagliari. Je suis complètement epuisée. Apres avoir eu peut etre 9 heures de sommeil dans les derniers trois jours , mon corps commence a me montrer qu'il n'est pas content. Donc il décide de me faire une petite gastro , youpi. En plus , ce matin belle crise de panique lorsque je ne trouvait pas mon porte feuille qui contenait toutes mon argent canadienne , ma carte debit , ma carte d'identitée ainsi qu'une centaine d'euros. J'ai fini par le trouver au fond de mon sac à dos ( niaiseuse ) . Je m'ennuies aussi beaucoup de tout le monde chez nous. Mais je pense ca va mieux aller avec le temps. Je vous laisse donc avec quelques photos de Cagliari . :)

Today's the day .

Well , in twelve hours I will be on a plane to Montreal , then off to Rome. I was expecting to be much more emotional than I am. I think i'm just too excited to start this new adventure to really be sad about leaving. Its a once in a lifetime experience, and its only for a year . A year is nothing ! So to give you a better idea of where I'll be / What i'll be doing . I'm going to work as an Au Pair ( nanny ) in the city of Cagliari on the island of Sardinia , Italy.

In the morning , I will be free to do as I please (go see the sights, take Italian language courses ( which I need BADLY) , go to the beach ( which is a half hour walk away) , or just relax. In the afternoon until early evening I will be taking care of the little Vittoria.

very short post , ONE MONTH UNTIL DEPARTURE ! :D . very excited

emotions

35 days until departure. So many different emotions. I'm exctied to finally start this new adventure and travel across Europe. But then all the things i'm leaving behind. Will I be able to stay in contact with friends and family, will I come back in a years time and have everyone turn their backs on me?..Everything comes at a price I guess..

A New Journey..

Well , I have never been a blogger. I guess I have never found my life interesting enough to do so. Now that i'm doing something interesting with my life I thought to myself  'why not' , so  here it goes. I'm embarking on a new adventure in August....MOVING TO ITALY!. I'm going to be working as an Au  Pair for about a year. Sooooo exciting. I think this blog with mostly just be for myself to let everything out when i'm there. Going to try blogging about once a week but don't know how that will work out. Ciao for now..
